Axiomedia gave us to review a small power amplifier, the AA-AB32159. It’s a small integrated amplifier (small because of its dimensions), it is in class T (that is to say it’s a well refined T-amp) with a single input, a loudspeakers output (fit for all kind of plugs) and with the volume control that turns endlessly. An external power supply is needed to get the voltage that the amplifier requires.
The declared power is 10W for each channel on 8 Ohms that become 15 on 4 Ohms.

This device has been tested in two different settings.
First of all I connected it to my Dell laptop, two very small Teac loudspeakers (a clone of the David Visonik) and a couple of PSB Alpha B1. In this set up, a “desk” stereo system, I must admit that the sound that comes out is interesting. Maybe the top range sometimes prevails a bit on the rest but - considering that the low range is present and that there isn't any saddle in the mid range - it’s not so evident. As for the soundstage, I suggest to keep the loudspeakers quite close to one another. This small Chinese power amp keeps left and right channels well separated and with the loudspeakers close to one another you can bypass the issue. The power is enough to drive both loudspeakers, also because they are positioned close to the ears of the listeners since it is a desk setting.
The second setting is that of my system - that I will not describe once again - but that is as for the price of the only amplifiers may be a couple of hundred times more expensive than the integrated we are talking about. Also in this case it is better to put the two loudspeakers close to one another. Sometimes the high range loses its grace but it is amazing how this small device can drive with force my two Audio Note ANs. There is a great sensation of dynamics that leaves amazed and the bass is very powerful and damped. Listening to big choirs is very pleasant but the volume must be kept to a medium level because otherwise the mid-high range might result annoying. When I say a medium level volume I mean a volume that might be similar to that of a seat in the 15th row in a theatre or to a listening position 15/20 meters far from the musicians in a church … not really just a background music after all. The mid range is good and this device sounds good also in a set up that is not its ideal.

Well what can I say? Of course it’s not the case to sell your hi end amplifier to replace it with this device but this AA-AB33259 is really something. It is emotionally moving more than my NAD3020, because it is much more dynamic. There are other Sure models and among these, one that has 100 watts for each channel that I’d love to review.
