YG Acoustics™, LLC is proud to announce the introduction of a very special member to its distinguished family of loudspeakers – the Sonja™. YG Acoustics™ undertook an ambitious design project resulting in a technical and aesthetic tour de force. This new creation reflects YG Acoustics™’ commitment to the notion that form follows function in excellent design. From its distinctively pure and flowing lines the exterior design of Sonja™ is clearly timeless, all while complementing the acoustics of the speaker. Sonja™’s form, in addition to enhancing aesthetics, has a profound acoustical advantage. The enclosure design was brought about by identifying key aspects of air flow and its effect on sonic behavior. With Sonja™, wave propagation enjoys improved uniformity and ease, resulting in superior dispersion and reduced diffraction effects all in an enclosure that is the quietest we’ve ever created. Sonically, Sonja™ offers further refinement of the highly regarded YG Acoustics™ attributes, in no small part due to an expanded no‐compromise DualCoherent™ network. The celebrated DualCoherent™ technology ensures the most flawless amplitude response coupled with a pristine integration of phase into the critical bass frequencies - complete "one-voice" coherency from top to bottom. YG Acoustics™’ award winning technologies are given full expression with Sonja™: BilletCore™ drivers machined from solid blocks of aircraft‐grade aluminum; ForgeCore™ tweeters with vanishingly low distortion; ultra‐quiet ToroAir™ toroidal crossover inductors; FocusedElimination™ resonance control without loss, and the industry’s most inert cabinet construction. Sonja™ is truly an unrestrained embodiment of YG Acoustics™' research which has resulted in a state-of-the-art audio performer with elegant design.

Merrill Audio announces the release of two new models of their acclaimed Veritas amplifiers, a Dual Mono version called the VERITAS Twins, and Bridged Monoblocks called the VERITAS Siamese Twins. All three models are built around the state of the art Hypex Ncore NC1200. Priced at USD $9,000, the VERITAS Twins Dual Mono Amplifier provides the sonic and build quality of the VERITAS Monoblocks, but in a single chassis for those with less space. Like the VERITAS Monoblocks, the VERITAS Twins is constructed from a single Aluminum billet. It has a single power cord that powers both channels, which are separated to either side of the chassis. A single Remote Trigger controls both channels. The VERITAS Siamese Twins Monoblocks, priced at US $18,000, provide a bridged version of the VERITAS Monoblocks with the same build quality, for those who want the benefits of a bridged Ncore. The VERITAS Siamese Twins has 2 Speaker binding posts like the VERITAS Monoblocks. The VERITAS Twins and VERITAS Siamese Twins are available by special order. Furutech and Alpha Design Labs at 2013 CES Discover Your Inner Sound!

24/1/2013

Tokyo-based ADL by Furutech™ aims high with an expanding line of Japanese-designed precision products including the superb sounding and unimaginably comfortable H118 Headphones making their official debut at CES along with a prototype of the Alpha Design Labs by Furutech X1 Portable Headphone Amplifier and new upgrade cables for some of the world’s top-selling headphones brands.
It’s All In Your Head!
What could possibly be more intimate than listening to music through headphones? It’s just you and the sound in your head. Headphones are in close sonic and physical contact with the listener and many have too much bass, or they’re too bright with a thick, congealed midrange, and most of them are uncomfortable to wear and ultimately fatiguing. The flared headband and tapered over-the-ear transducer shape make the H118 Headphones supremely comfortable, an observation everyone makes before suddenly being captured by the sound, upon which they fall silent! The ADL H118 is balanced in a completely audiophile way, a very Furutech way! Rich tonal colors  and textures with intimate and close harmonic interplay, a sense of space and
quiet backgrounds; the resonance of music itself creates an involving emotional
experience when you’re THIS CLOSE to the music! Now shipping at $299.

VAC introduces the VAC iQ System

10/1/2013

Immagine
The VAC iQ System is the result of 18 years of research and development by VAC, and represents the first time in history that each tube in the output stage of a vacuum tube amplifier can be held precisely at the optimal bias point at all times, regardless of how loudly or softly the music is playing. Our new Statement iQ power amplifier is the first component to ever use this new technology. Stop by our exhibit at CES and witness history in the making! (Read more about the VAC iQ System.)

From Moon, the new 610LP Phono Preamplifier

3/1/2013

Immagine
Featuring a dual-mono, fully balanced differential circuit layout, the MOON 610LP is a purist design heavily based on the reference grade MOON 810LP. Since one of our strengths at Simaudio is  "Research & Development", we have the ability to create a reference grade product and then, a short time later, offer a more accessible model which encapsulates most of the technology and performance of the reference. The 610LP combines customized  parts in an ultra-refined audio circuit which is fed by a unique power supply. This oversized power supply, located within the main chassis, is housed in a satin coated, 14-gauge steel isolated enclosure which eliminates all traces of AC artifacts. Located within this enclosure is a high quality toroidal transformer, a “pi-type” filter to reduce AC transmission noise and multiple stages of voltage regulation. These factors result in a power supply that exceeds the performance of a battery power supply with respect to both audio signal-to-noise ratio and voltage regulation. Unsurpassed flexibility combined with lifelike analog reproduction! A highly configurable phono  preamplifier, the MOON 610LP offers selectable gain, impedance loading, capacitance loading and equalization curves, all accomplished using DIP switches found on the bottom panel. These switches are located directly in line with the circuit at optimal locations to yield the shortest possible signal path. These adjustments, in conjunction with an excellent overload margin, allow the MOON 610LP to work with virtually any available phono cartridge.
The MOON 610LP will be available in March 2013

Significant Design Features:
· Adjustable  impedance loading - 64 available settings from 12.1Ω to 47kΩ
· Adjustable capacitance loading - 16 available settings from  0pF to 1120pF
· Adjustable gain settings - 16  available settings from 40dB to 70dB
· Selectable  equalization curves for both the RIAA and the IEC standards
· An
oversized power supply producing a DC signal with a noise  floor of -140dB related to 1.0V, DC-100kHz
·  Power supply voltage regulation includes
i²DCf (Independent Inductive DC  Filtering); There is one inductor dedicated to each integrated circuit type  component (DAC, Op-Amp, etc.) in the audio circuit’s signal path - 24  stages in all
· Customized parts include metallized  polypropylene film capacitors with very tight tolerances of 1%
·
4-Layer PCB’s with pure copper tracings for a much shorter  signal path; This results in greater sonic accuracy and a dramatically  improved signal-to-noise ratio
· Power supply  featuring a "pi-type" filter comprised of 40,000uF of capacitance and dual  choke inductance (2x200mH)
· 12 Volt trigger  input and output for remote operation
· Ultra rigid  chassis construction to minimize the effects of external vibrations
· Accurate matching of the very finest quality electronic  components in a symmetrical circuit design.
