For the many enthusiastic friends of TACET Real Surround Sound, we have a huge and welcome surprise today. After careful deliberation and intensive preparation, TACET now announces that another sound carrier, the Blu-ray disc, will be added to our two well-known multi-channel formats SACD and DVD-audio. All discs are released "pure audio", without moving images. They offer high-resolution 5.1-tone and high-resolution stereo tone. The first 20 discs will be released in autumn, amongst them several acquisitions from out-of-print publications, but especially new recordings in TACET Real Surround Sound. These include the spectacular 5.1-version of major orchestral works of Maurice Ravel with the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra under Carlo Rizzi, chamber music of Erich Korngold with the Camerata Freden, the still missing Real Surround Sound versions of the prize-winning string quartets of Joseph Haydn with the Auryn Quartet, and others. It has been planned to issue the entire Real Surround Sound catalogue, little by little - approximately 50 titles - on Blu-ray. The Proteus represents the pinnacle of all that Seiji Yoshioka has learned and achieved in his pioneering and perfection of the ring-magnet construction in phono cartridges. Listening to the Proteus on a top turntable and arm combination, the usual audio industry descriptors fail ... there is only music, intensely communicative music. The phenomenal resolution can only be understood in musical and emotional terms ... "did you hear how he bent that note? ... how could she do that with her voice? You can feel her pain..." Proteus is the name of an early Greek sea god known for his ability like water, to change forms, flowing from one to the next. This aptly describes Transfigurations Proteus and its chameleon-like ability to become whatever music it sees. Liquid, powerful, delicate, transparent ... and teeming with life. When you are ready to unleash the gods of music hidden in the grooves of your favorite LP's, it is time for Proteus ... A pure streamer with analogue output. The new, compact, SIACD expands on, and is styled to match ATC’s range of stand-alone electronic products for home installation. The SIACD is built to the same design and manufacturing standards as the company’s internationally renowned professional audio products. Overview New class A/B "grounded source" 100W/Ch. power amp stages offering class leading performance High performance DAC with USB, coaxial and optical digital inputs On-board CD Player Headphone amplifier with front panel mounted output 2 x stereo line level analogue inputs 1 x stereo line level output Black or silver anodised finish options 6 year warranty* Hand built in Stroud, UK This new product is designed as a simple yet versatile one-box solution for D-A conversion, CD playback, pre and power amplification duties. The SIACD is housed in a rugged yet elegant chassis, only 315mm/12.4" wide. Styling compliments the rest of ATC’s range of outboard pre and power amplifiers and the product is available in both black and silver brushed and anodised finishes. Whereas many other manufacturers’ favour class-D power amp technology for compact devices, ATC have based the power amp design on the class A/B circuits employed in their highest performance professional, active loudspeakers, thus ensuring the highest possible performance of this vital element of an all-in-one player amplifier. In this revised design, ATC engineers have made further improvements to their discrete MOSFET output stage to give vanishingly low levels of distortion, very wide bandwidth and a reduced idle temperature. Maximum output power is 100W per channel, continuous, into 8 ohms with both channels driven. The resolution offered by this approach is simply above and beyond what is available from most ‘high-end’ stand-alone power amplifiers, let alone ‘all-in-one’ player/amplifiers. The preamp/DAC stage features two, line level, stereo, analogue inputs and three digital inputs. Both analogue inputs are equipped with rear panel mounted, RCA/phono connections. One of the two inputs also features a front panel mounted 3.5mm jack input for simple connection to portable music players. The USB, SPDIF and optical inputs are mounted on the rear panel. The DAC utilises Wolfson’s WM8740 chipset and is compatible with 16 to 24 bit word lengths and sample rates up to 192kHz (coaxial and optical digital inputs only). Excellent digital clock recovery ensures signal integrity is maintained even with poorer quality digital sources and the SIACD. The USB input is compatible with word lengths up to 16 bits and sample frequencies up to 48kHz and is galvanically isolated from the digital source via a high performance transformer. The SIACD headphone amplifier is specified to drive a very wide range of headphone sensitivities and impedances. It features very low distortion and noise and an extremely wide and flat frequency response for best possible performance. The headphone output is front panel mounted. The chassis is constructed from a combination of steel and aluminium and uses constrained layer damping to control panel resonances. The front panel is machined from an extruded section of 13mm/0.5" aluminium alloy with a brushed and anodised silver or black finish. All the user controls are machined from solid aluminium. in central France, between the end of July and the beginning of August 2013, a Music festival will take place. It's a pleasure for us to present the program of concerts that will be performed. The choice of the venue of the festival couldn't be any better, both for the Brionnaise cuisine and for the natural beauty of the places. We will do our best to be present at the happening to make a report of the concerts and of the entire festival. After the huge success of our critically acclaimed Anniversary System, we’ve transferred the innovations we made for that limited addition system to our new flagship series. The Signature series is now the top range in the Cyrus catalogue, representing months of research, testing and fine-tuning to produce the purest Cyrus sound yet. And of course the Signature series continues our upgrade tradition, meaning that you can upgrade your current unit to transform it into its new improved counterpart. The Signature series includes: DAC X Signature Upsampling 32-bit/192 kHz DAC, fine-tuned for low jitter and high accuracy. DAC XP Signature A true audiophile DAC with an upsampling 32-bit DAC and integrated pre-amplifier, providing a full and clear sound. Mono X 200 Signature Expertly designed with Zero Feedback technology. Mono X 300 Signature Audiophile quality power amp with huge power and capacity. The circuitry uses our Zero Feedback technology to make sure you get all of the power with no interference. and more to come... The myriad throngs of audiophile and music enthusiast sites in the internet is dizzying, and trying to stay on top of interesting articles about products, music, and events is a very daunting task for the casual enthusiast. Chris Sommovigo has now launched a new website that serves to aggregate links from review and enthusiast websites from around the world and bring them to a single-paged destination on the web: www.High-Fidelity.com “I’m hoping to keep it interesting and fun, and to work symbiotically with audiophile and music sites from around the globe by directing traffic their way. Meanwhile, we’re finding great stories about products our readers might find interesting – and might not know are out there. It’s intended to be a very positive situation for everyone.” Some of the links that originate in non-english-language websites are directed through Google’s translation service, helping the english-reader to enjoy and profit from the information in the articles. One aspect of the site may, however, prove to be somewhat controversial: the Free Classifieds section. But Mr. Sommovigo feels that this is an excellent way to add value to his service: “The internet has always been an extraordinarily democratizing instrument, and it has forced us to shift paradigms in so many areas – especially in commerce – because it creates a very inexpensive way of providing certain kinds of services. Thanks to the open-architecture of various blog platforms, software-engineering entrepreneurs are providing very inexpensive solutions that extend the capability of these platforms. We found a really nice one for classified ads and decided to make the service completely free of charge, and we intend to keep it completely free.” While this may rustle a few feathers, Mr. Sommovigo and the folks at High-Fidelity.com feel that this is just a natural and unavoidable consequence of the ever-evolving digital lifestyle. “Digital has always been a two-edged sword because it makes its advantages available to everyone inexpensively. It’s up the entrepreneurs to discover ways of employing those advantages creatively, and hopefully for the good of the many instead of just the few.” He invites audiophile manufacturers, distributors, dealers, and publications to submit a 300 x 150px (w x h) banner for inclusion on the site, free until August 31. Starting September 1, they will be charging a quite modest rate for their banner-ads, which are always in random rotation to ensure good visibility-distribution. Santa Monica, CA, May 30, 2013 – Leading digital audio manufacturer Antelope Audio will introduce the newest member of its stellar Integrity line of D/A converters – Zodiac Platinum at the T.H.E Show Newport, Hilton hotel. The new Antelope DAC brings audio appreciation to a higher level, offering the audiophile community the widest DSD support, including the unique 256X mode and a sample rate of 768 kHz via a custom-built USB chip. The extreme DSD256 greatly extends the accuracy and transparency of the audio reproduction as well as the overall system performance. The custom-designed Antelope USB chip compliments high fidelity by reducing clock jitter and pushing the envelope of the USB streaming with sample rates four times higher than those offered by similar devices. Whereas many top of the line DACs offer PCM upsamplers, the Platinum is the first device to offer a DSD upsampler. This distinctive feature allows the upsampling of DSD64 to DSD256, pushing DSD noise into higher frequencies, vastly improving the quality of the D/A conversion. The Platinum bypasses internal digital filters built into the DAC chip by implementing a custom upsampler with carefully designed high-precision linear phase filters in the FPGA. Signature Antelope Clocking In the heart of the new Platinum lie the renowned 64-bit Acoustically Focused Clocking and the ultra-low jitter oven-controlled crystal oscillator, which are Antelope’s signature for unprecedented sound quality appreciated by the best recording, mastering and post production studios around the world. In addition, the Platinum is equipped with a 10 MHz input for the legendary Antelope 10M Rubidium atomic clock, providing the most accurate and stable clocking reference and therefore an uncompromised digital to analog conversion. “The new Zodiac Platinum is not just a response to our customers’ requests for an Antelope DAC with DSD support, but a next level in home audio entertainment,” shared Igor Levin, CEO and founder of Antelope Audio. “The unique 256 X DSD mode, 768 kHz sample rate, quad DAC architecture, and the 64-bit upsampler, together with the atomic input propels Zodiac Platinum into a league of its own in terms of musicality, imaging and detail. This new device will take our customers’ listening experience to an entirely new level.” Levin added. Zodiac Platinum has inherited the stepped relay volume control and the dual stage headphone drivers with impedance control from its very successful and highly appreciated predecessor Zodiac Gold. The Platinum also comes with an elegant remote control and has the option for external audiophile grade power supply Voltikus. In addition to the PC and Mac control panels available in the Zodiac Line, the Platinum also offers the comfort of the remote control from a mobile application, available for Android and iOS. The new DAC is planned to hit the market by the end of July 2013 with an expected retail price of $4,895. The bundle with Voltikus PSU will be $5,495.
